Steve Prefontaine was one of the greatest track runners of all time. Although his time wasn't long, he was very well known. People that have know him said he was very cocky. He was, he believed he was the best middle distance runner and he would soon set the world record in the 3 mile. He went to the Olympics at the age of 21 and had a chance for the gold but "died" during the race. So he got 4th. That didnt stop him from running. He ran his heart out. "He ran every race like it was his last race." He died in  may, 1975. He was killed in an auto accident. It was and still is unknown to this day how he was killed, in the car. But he is the Pimp of The Month because he was the coolest guy of his time. Everybody knew who he was. Pre held 14 American Track and Field Records from 2,000 meters to 10, 000 meters.
